Development set to begin on project
With a planned unit development approved by the Oklahoma City Council and a letter of intent in hand from a national builder of high-end mixed-use housing-retail-office projects, developer Larry Owsley said his Quail Springs Village, an "open air lifestyle community" planned just north of Quail Springs Mall, is about to take off.
Owsley, who heads Quail Springs Land Development LLC, said work on entrances, internal streets and utilities could begin around Nov. 1.
He said a national hotel chain has approved the site for a full-service convention hotel, and that several national retailers with no locations in the Oklahoma City market "have conducted numerous visits" to the site.
Improvements to NW 150, which is the north boundary of the project, are well under way, he noted.
The work will make the street four-lane and add deceleration lanes, which Owsley said will make Quail Springs Village more accessible
Owsley revealed plans for the project, then called Village at Quail Springs, in January. Carter Burgess, the national civil engineering firm, master planned the project, on 232 acres, some of which abuts the mall property.
"Since we have final zoning approval, things should really start to take shape over the next few months," he said.
